FrSky D4R-II - 4/8 Channel Receiver With 27ms CPPM

More Views

Compatible with FrSky Taranis and the telemetry modules: DFT, DJT, DHT, DHT-U

What makes this receiver different the the D4FR? The D4R-II's data port allows you to connect a sensor hub so you can connect GPS, Variometer, temperature, RPM and all of the other great FrSky sensors. It also has 2 full length detachable antennas. They managed to squeeze all this into a package just a little larger then the D4FR.

NOTE: For your safety all D4R-II receivers sold by Aloft Hobbies feature the 27ms firmware upgrade already installed, this allows safe use of all 8 channels when using the CPPM mode.

Best reciever made Review by Chris Barth
I've used the FrSky system almost since it was first introduced. I started with the DHT-U on a Futaba 9z and now have used a Taranis for a few years. Ive tried almost all of their telemetry receivers and this is my favorite by far. I use it on my quadcopters and 3d planes. Just because its super small dont think it doesnt have range. This receiver has no noticeable range difference between it and its big brothers. I've flown large aircraft to where its a speck and my RSSI is still very good.

I love that the antennas can be easily changed for ones with more length for better placement. After the aircraft is built and the reciever set in place I will usually apply some hot glue on the antenna connections on the PCB, that will keep the antennas in place "just in case".

These receivers are also well built. There are no large SMD components on the circuit board just begging to break off during a crash. Believe me, I've put my receivers through hell and they keep coming back. Laugh all you want, but my quad crashed in the Chesapeake bay, luckily the battery disconnected upon impact. After few hours I finally found it in 5' of brackish water. I thoroughly washed the receiver with distilled water and IPA when dried the receiver worked like new minus the paper wrapper! Great price, fast shipping, amazing customer service Review by Sterling
More than $10 cheaper than amazon. Shipped the same day I ordered. I accidentally placed two separate orders, and with a quick email, I had a response the same day and my problem fixed. Thank you so much! I highly recommend buying this receiver from this site. (Posted on 5/19/15)
love this rx Review by john
Getting it preflashed with 27ms is great! Wait for them to restock so I can order a few more. My favorite rx. (Posted on 4/27/15)
Excellent! Review by Grant
Quality stuff here, even better when paired with the new pcb antennae. (Posted on 3/26/15)
Magic! Review by Glen
Excellent when paired with DJT-JR module and stock 9X.

PPM with CC3D: Try the Flexiport if you encounter issues with the receiver port.

Thanks Aloft! (Posted on 3/11/15)
worth every penny Review by Robert
I have this in several of my planes. Very reliable and great fast service with Alofthobbies (Posted on 12/6/14)
my favorite RX Review by DaddyBigas
This is probably my most favorite receiver. This is small, light, and reliable...and it has CPPM. Sadly the successor to this receiver (X4R) does not offer CPPM. So this little guy will remain popular for some time I think. (Posted on 11/19/14)
Reliable and inexpensive Review by Tim
Once again Aloft and FrSky knock it out of the park. These receivers are great for DLG's as well as multirotors using PPM. Aloft ships fast and is my go-to vendor for FrSky! (Posted on 11/17/14)
D4R-II + FUC3 Review by Poitivin
Fantastic!! Fastest shipping I've had until now. 1 week from US to Portugal. Pretty much happy and for sure will buy again from Aloft. well done! (Posted on 11/9/14)
This is my new standard receiver Review by David
Works great on Multiwii ,naze 32 , next I'm going use the cppm feature on openstabilzer.
I am using a module on a Futaba 9c and have converted every plane glider and quad that I own to Frsky .
Glad to see that the firmware was already flashed ,but that is really easy anyway, just using a normal FTDI dongle which I already had.( there is a FTDI program to flash the dongle when done just flash it back)

Major power and features in a tiny receiver! Review by RandyR
These little receivers rock. One originally came with my 3dRobotics IRIS (yes, this is the stock receiver they offer for their fully autonomous quadcopter), and immediately had to buy one for another craft after seeing the capabilities. Using CPPM function, you get 8 channels out of this tiny beast, with only a single cable to your quad controller board (for an airplane with servos, I have no idea what you'd have to do... sorry). With diversity antennas and some basic telemetry, what's not to love from a $22 receiver? And replaceable antennas for only a few dollars? Easy decision, in my book... FrSky all the way... and ALOFT will get it to you fast. I've switched-out Spektrum gear for FrSky completely now. It just can't be beat. (Posted on 9/5/14)
Great Little Receiver Review by Samuel
Its everything as advertised: Lightweight, CPPM (works with multiwii flip 1.5 FC), RSSI, and lightening fast response (coming from spektrum gear). Antennas are monopoles and uses a ulf connector (so antennas are user replaceable). (Posted on 8/26/14)
Great receiver and great service from Aloft Hobbies! Only 8 days delivery to England! Brilliant! Review by rob271257
Great receiver at a fantastic price and very reasonable delivery charges to the UK. Thank you! (Posted on 10/11/13)
Great rx for park flyers or autopilot use Review by doseven
I use this with my multirotor that accepts CPPM input, so from this 4 channel reciever I get 8 channels of CPPM. I also use this in my park flyer type aircraft and my scratchbuilds as 4 channels is all you need for most small planes or flying wings.

I like that they include the wire leads for the telemetry system with the reciever.

Fantastic small full-range receiver with CPPM, voltage monitoring, diversity and full telemetry. Review by Scott
I love these receivers. I have 8 of them now. They're great for anything with a flight controller using a single-lead CPPM connection with the 27mS firmware installed. They have an external A2 port which is perfect for voltage monitoring with my Taranis. The best choice for anything small with 4 controls or fewer, or up to 8 channels with a flight for FBL controller. (Posted on 9/4/13)
Perfect for multi rotors that use CPPM Review by xtrmtrk
I've started converting all of my Naza and OpenPilot systems over to use this receiver - it's absolutely fantastic. It's pretty small, very light, has diversity antennas and supports all the CPPM channels I need on the Naza and OpenPilot. I'm converting over from the Spektrum world and builds using this receiver are so much cleaner and simpler. I really love this little receiver. Next I want to hook the RSSI up to my OSD, it shouldn't be a problem. (Posted on 7/18/13)
lighting fast shipping big bang for your buck Review by luis rivera
I recently sold off all my spektrum equipment and bought a turnigy 9xr with the frsky module. I recently bought this little receiver for my edge 540 on 5/9/13 and it was installed in my plane by noon 5/11. I live in ny state there in cali shipped first class enough said. The quality of the rx was very good and install was a breeze with the detailed instructions. Will def be buying for from these guys. (Posted on 5/12/13)
ppm output for FBL Review by Jarad
i'm running this rx with my beastx in single line ppm mode and it works perfect. It's nice not to have all those extra cables routed to the rx from the fbl unit and the rx is tiny.

I'll be using this same setup with a iKon fbl when the firmware is updated to handle it. (Posted on 3/12/13)
Great small receiver to add telemetry to any size aircraft. Review by Dale
These are great small receivers with telemetry no less. I now have 5 of them (And will be ordering more) and have converted all my old FM stuff over to 2.4 Ghz. The size lets them fit in most park size planes, and the dual antennas make for a rock solid signal. I have flow with these out until all I can see is a speck in the sky, Rock solid signal returned back to my transmitter.

Excellent little receiver Review by txwindrider
I use this receiver in a 2M thermal glider with brushless outrunner and 3s lipo. I built my own voltage divider with two resistors on the A2 port to read the lipo voltage on the screen of my Turnigy 9X with DHT and ER9X. The lipo voltage and rssi telemetry give an added margin of safety that's well worth the added cost of Frsky's 2 way gear, with no weight penalty. The range performance seems as good as the V8FR, which is to say about as far as I can see to fly. I couldn't ask for more in terms of low weight, reasonable price, features and performance. And thumbs up to Aloft Hobbies for quick low cost shipping - I had this less than a week after ordering. (Posted on 5/19/12)

Product FAQs

Does D4R-II has built in voltage sensor like the 6 channel? Does it take the "cheap" voltage sensor like the 6 channel?

Yes, all of the telemetry receivers from FrSky are now equipped with a built in voltage sensor that will read the voltage being fed to the receiver. If you power your radio via a Speed control or BEC, then you will only see the output of that device (typically 5 volts). In that case you will want to use the external voltage sensor and hook it up to the A2 port.

Is the antenna on this receiver replaceable?

Yes, you can replace both of the antennas. The stock length is 150mm, and we carry a variety of different lengths to help get the best location for your model.
